Mayor of Miami, elected on December 9th 2025. She is the city's first female mayor and the first Democrat to hold the job this century. A county bureaucrat by background, she won in a 13-candidate field that included several scions of the powerful families that had run Miami politics for nearly 40 years. She has said she plans to be a full-time mayor—unlike her predecessor Francis Suarez, for whom the role was technically part-time—and intends to reform the permit process and build affordable housing. She has called the influx of newcomers to Miami a "mixed blessing".
