CoreCivic is an American private prison and immigration-detention company. It has benefited handsomely from the Donald Trump administration's expansion of ICE detention capacity, which has grown from roughly 40,000 to around 70,000 beds since Mr Trump took office in January 2025, with a target of 100,000. CoreCivic's net profit jumped by half year on year in early 2026.
